Full-time Instrumentation Specialist: The successful applicant will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of several advanced instruments, including a Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Environmental Scanning Electron Microscope (ESEM), and an X-ray Diffractometer (XRD). Although the equipment is housed in the Physics Department, it is used by multidisciplinary teams, often in non-routine measurements. The Physics Department offers ABET accredited B.S. degrees in Applied Physics and in Engineering Physics, as well as five minors: Physics, Optics, Acoustics, Materials Science, and Medical Physics. Preferred Qualifications

· MS degree in Physics, Chemistry, or a related field
· Certificate or similar credentials in microscopy and/or advanced instrumentation
· 3+ years experience in instrumentation facilities including TEM or SEM
· Laboratory management experience
· Experience documenting compliance with government regulations
· Experience training others in the theory and operation of advanced instrumentation like TEM or ESEM

Job Specific Required Qualifications

· BS degree in Physics, Chemistry, or a related field
· 1 year experience using instrumentation such as TEM or SEM
· Demonstrated skill in project management and documentation

Skills and Values
· Demonstrated aptitude using Windows, Excel, and Word software for business purposes
· Demonstrated aptitude using scientific software
· Demonstrated skill in functioning on multidisciplinary teams
· Demonstrated high degree of organizational skill and attention to detail
